Depression has been like an epidemic for a while now. A lot of people in the developed countries are suffering from it. It’s almost like a common psychological disease. Well, doctors do diagnose it as so. But there are certain levels and types of depression that may or may not need medical attention. So it is very important to determine first on the type of depression that one is having. Best thing to do in these cases is to go visit a doctor for a good diagnosis. While diagnosing should be the first step, motivating the person with depression can be quite difficult. That is why it is more important to convince the person with depression to first do that.

If you are suffering from depression and you realize that from the symptoms that you have been having, then it is a very good sign. That means you know you have a problem and need help. But sometimes, people are too afraid to admit or to express that they have depression. Its okay as it is one of the effects of having depression. Either way, it is very logical in both cases to visit a doctor. If you feel like it, then you can take one of your friends or a relative or your loved one maybe.

If you come to know or suspect that your loved one or a family member or a friend needs help with depression, then you should try and convince them to visit a doctor. They should know that visiting a doctor is perfectly ok. Usually depressed people are too reluctant or afraid to express or let others know of their disease. Motivating them can be quite a task. But everybody can realize the importance of life if you can make them understand their value in the society or family. Then they will be ready for visiting the doctor.

To deal with depression you can try the following tips. Though all tips may not work for all, you can give them a shot to see if they do. Changing the pattern of life is very helpful in reducing depression. When you change your daily activities, you will have a new taste of life. All the monotonous things you did might have made you really depressed. Try something different for a while. You can start by doing something that you like. It does not matter if it is going to a party, a club, a mall or going on hiking, fishing, snow-boarding or anything that’s fun.

Exercise can play an important role in changing your mood. If you exercise regularly maintaining a routine, you will definitely find that it is helping you. A lot of doctors would recommend you to do so and can tell you what kind of exercise you can do. Whatever exercise you are given, it will surely keep you in a healthy shape. This in turn will increase your self esteem and help you get out of the depression.

Depressed people have inferiority complex in common. Treating yourself can get you relief from that. Buy something for yourself and see how it instantly changes your state of mind. Tell yourself that you deserve it. Follow these few steps which should get you out of the primary levels of general depression. If it does not, you better consult your doctor

Social anxiety disorder is another name of social phobia. It refers to some avoidable psychological constraints of a person. It is a consequence of being afraid of social affairs. There are some people around us who often feel uneasy to come forward for any social correspondence. Usually they always hesitate when expressing themselves in front of others. We can call them introverts sometimes but not all introverts have SAD. It is quite difficult to solve this problem if the person himself does not volunteer. This sort of person is self centered so they don’t like going outside of their sphere of life.

A person with social anxiety disorder feels shy to speak in front of a group of people if they are judges. They are often afraid of being judged by others. Some of them even hesitate to take their meals with an unknown person. They don’t want to be asked for doing something. If someone insists on reading or writing something in front of an audience, they feel extremely shy. Social anxiety disorder may turn into panic if it prevails for a long time. The problem continues to increase when they do not get support from others.

For curing the problem they need assistance from their friends, relatives or nearest ones. As they themselves don’t ask for the help to get rid of this problem, the appropriate person should come forward. If nobody is helping them, then they should take initiative and go to a doctor. There are two types of SAD: specific SAD and general SAD.

In case of specific SAD, the person becomes anxious for a specific reason. The person is always afraid of facing that particular event or activity. The general disorder includes the fear of being judged and shyness for own action. The affected person might have a hard time facing public events or gatherings where interaction is required. They often feel under pressure in such a situation where their actions are being observed and feel extremely shy for that. While facing these events, they start to show several symptoms. Their hearts start beating faster and as a result, they mumble or blush. Sometimes they can’t even remember anything since they explain later on that their minds went blank at that moment. But these symptoms are age specific. A child faces uncomfortable situation and starts crying or clinging to parents. An adult starts sweating or blushing in this case.

There are several reasons behind SAD. It occurs when a person possesses low self-esteem and clinical depression due to lack of good relation with society and its related affairs. SAD may occur due to other reasons that are genetic and family factors. In one study, the researcher has shown that many of the patients inherit the anxiety from their ancestors who had SAD. From the genetic viewpoint, it is possible to be affected even if a person has no other reason. Apart from these reasons, social experience and cultural influence dominate upon the issue. The main recommendation for the affected person is that he or she should go to a doctor and follow their advice.

More and more people are being diagnosed as having Generalized Anxiety Disorder. The growing number can make an average person wonder about what this disease is all about. Well, GAD is a disorder that involves anxiety being at an uncontrollable level for a normal person. Approximately five percent of the population are suspected to have this disorder. People with generalized anxiety disorder worry too much over things that are not worth the amount of worry. Pretty much everything makes them worried. Numerous everyday matters can easily make them overwhelmed with worries. If people become anxious of general things and it continues for about six months, then it is quite possible that they have GAD.

Anxiety can take different forms and complications in men and women from different socio-economic backgrounds. One of them is GAD. People with GAD are worried too much almost all the time about things that are generally inevitable or out of one’s control. While being worried about something generally does some good, people with GAD have an anxiety level that is higher than normal. This makes living their lives very hard for them. It also means that their environment and the people they live or stay with are affected by their abnormal behaviors.

Being worried is the common sign of GAD but not the definitive one. People with GAD are often found to have some other symptoms too. In addition to excessive amount of worry and anxiety that is beyond the patient’s control, they also exhibit restlessness, lack of concentration or loosing focus, being tired too easily, insomnia or oversleeping etc. The anxiety is not limited and can overwhelm the person. It even interferes with the way a person with GAD communicates or connects with another person. Their behaviors affect their co-workers and a lot of people around them.

While it is already established that alcohol and the sedative benzodiazepine have direct effects on GAD, it can not be said that a person has GAD only based on the fact that they are drug abusers. Alcohol fuels anxiety which can be reduced just by abstaining from it. But again, it can not be mixed with a cause. Benzodiazepine can have quite an adverse effect on people with GAD. It can worsen the situation by developing a tolerance in a patient rather than treating them. Best thing to do is to stop taking these as soon as doctors advise or the symptoms are prevailing for over six months in a row.

Most of us are familiar with medicines like Prozac and Zoloft. These are widely used for treating GAD. But studies have proven severe side-effects like sexual dysfunction, nausea, memory impairment etc. Benzodiazepines are also used for short periods of times for treating GAD. However, long term usage is strongly discouraged. Pregabalin is so far the most effective medicine that has very little side-effects. Though it works like benzodiazepines, pregabalin has no effect on sleeping habit. The effects on memory are also significantly lower than benzodiazepines. Biggest benefit of using pregabalin is that there is very little chance for abuse and tolerance as well as dependence. On the other hand, benzodiazepines are notorious for both abuse and tolerance.

Depression is one of the most common diseases in Americans. It is so widespread that there is no social or age barrier that defines who might have or who might not. Usually diseases like these are found in both high income and low income groups. But the reasons and effects can vary widely due to the socioeconomic background of the patient. Low income group of people who are diagnosed with depression are quite rare since they usually don’t realize that they have it. For them, these are just frequent down times in their lives which seem normal considering the day to day issues they face. But the doctors say it is one of the greatest reasons that fuel decisions like self harming and suicide.

Depression is a cause of many anti-social activities among the current generation. Outrageous behavior, low tolerance levels and high temper are all signs of serious stages of depression. People like these are considered dangerous for the community as their behavior is highly unpredictable. But it can be cured by seeking medical help. There are free resources on the internet also to help people with depression. But first, one should know about the symptoms of depression.

There are some behavioral symptoms that indicate presence of depression in a person. If you check yourself against those symptoms, then you’ll get an idea what should you be looking for in others to decide on visiting a doctor for a full diagnosis. Always remember that only a doctor can help you. One of the most common symptoms is the reluctance to do anything. This may include all or some of your daily activities. For example, younger people who have depression may start losing interest in studying. People who already have a job may quit if they are depressed. Housewives may lose interest in doing the chores and so on.

Partially related to that symptom is the irregularity in sleeping and eating habits. Depressed people either sleep too much or have insomnia. They find it difficult to control and get used to a routine. Those who sleep more may also complain that they can not keep awake or wake up in time. Overeating is a common symptom of depression. All those big buckets of ice-creams or bottles of peanut butter seems to run out quicker than ever while you are having random thoughts that are not productive by any means. The opposite is not rare at all. Just like losing interest in other stuff, depressed people often lose the interest in food and develop reluctance towards eating. All the delicious foods can not bring them on the dinner table and they even miss several meals a day. The former contributes to weight gain and the latter in weight loss.

It is very common that depressed people feel hopeless and helpless. They think that nobody can help them with their problems and refuse to visit doctors. Their concentration level drops significantly. They become distracted quite easily. For all these and some other reasons they feel worthless and guilty. They complain about pains that seem unexplainable. Overall, it may seem like everything is falling down for them; their body and mind sort of give up and try to cease to exist. Should anything like that ever comes to your mind, consider sharing it to a responsible person at the very least.

There are several natural remedies for anxiety that people have been using for a long time to keep anxiety disorder in control. Most of these natural remedies for anxiety are found in different foods. In a lot of cases, the patients with anxiety disorder do not take these foods or take them in a quantity that is not enough. People who are careful about their foods and maintain a healthy diet are often found to have a sound mind and health that is essential for keeping anxiety and its symptoms away. Just by changing your food habit, you can deal with anxiety in a very efficient way.

One of the most important fact about natural remedies for anxiety is that there are several vitamins that are found in these remedies. If you are wondering why not take supplements of these vitamins, then consider this, the vitamins found from natural sources are found to work and serve their purposes way better than the ones found in vitamin tablets. Of course your doctor can tell you best which one is to go for. If you are taking medicine for anxiety relief, then consult with your doctor first to know if the natural remedies you want to try out will be ok with the medications or not.

Fish is one of the most important of all natural remedies for anxiety. Fish contains some of the vitamins and minerals that help keep anxiety away. Fish oil contains omega 3 fatty acids that are very helpful for curing mood related disorders and anxiety. Vitamin B can also be found in fish which assures mental state stabilization that is essential for keeping anxiety under control. Salt water fishes contain a lot of magnesium. Magnesium is a very important part of healthy diet. RDA for magnesium is 400 milligrams with food which means having fish in your diet is vital to anxiety relief.

Children and even adults often don’t like milk which is rich in vitamins and minerals that are important for good mental growth and a sound health. Milk is considered as the ideal food. It has a lot of nutrients that are hard to find in one food alone. It is a good source of vitamin A and a lot of other minerals. It is also one of the most versatile foods of them all that can be taken in different forms. You can drink milk, have it with morning cereal, mix it with fruits or chocolate etc.

It is not just about the foods you take, it is also about the way you lead your life. If you are leading a good and healthy life with a sound mind, you have a good chance of dealing with anxiety compared to those without them. Exercise can help you get rid of a lot of symptoms that are associated with anxiety disorders. One of the most common complains of anxiety disorder patients is that they have sleep issues. Either they can’t sleep or sleep too much. With regular exercise, your sleep irregularities will go away without any medication.

There are many websites where you can find out about anxiety disorder symptoms. Since a lot of people are being diagnosed with several types of anxiety disorders, knowing these symptoms can help everyone. Maybe you yourself have gotten anxiety disorder but since you do not know about anxiety disorder symptoms, it may remain untreated. Unlike a lot of other psychological diseases, anxiety disorder can easily be cured or at least kept under control if diagnosed at an earlier stage. There is a controversy to whether or not it can be called a disease since mostly it seems like a disorder.

A lot of these symptoms can also be present in case of other disorders like OCD and depression. So a proper diagnosis can only be done by a professional. However, knowing about these anxiety disorder symptoms can help you determine the need of visiting a doctor at the first place. If you or any of your relatives, close ones or friends has shown these symptoms, you can observe them for a while to see if it is temporary. Once you are sure that these symptoms are simultaneously present for a while, go to a doctor or take the person with these symptoms to a doctor.

A lot of these symptoms are related and almost similar. Like panic, fear, uneasiness etc. Patients with anxiety disorder are often found to have severe panic about something or someone. They get startled by the presence of some people or often worry about happening something that they fear. They feel uneasy about pretty much everything. Eating, sleeping, walking, sitting etc are like very hard for them to do with ease. They even find it hard to do some of these in front of others. Because of this uneasiness, they are often restless and walking or shaking their legs while talking.

Nausea, dizziness, short breath, cold or sweaty hands or legs also include among the symptoms of anxiety disorder. People with this disorder feel dizzy very easily. Their hands and feet go cold or sweat profusely, especially when they are tensed or having a panic attack. These are the most common physical symptoms which are clearly identifiable and visible. Despite their repeated attempts to get over these with medications, therapies and exercises, they often complain that these keep coming back. Well, unless their anxiety disorder is taken care of, these symptoms are not going to go away.

The most serious and root symptom is related to sleeping. Often patients complain that they can not sleep well at nights or any time or they have a hard time waking up and keeping awake. The fatigued nature of anxiety disorder patients is the result of sleep irregularities. Sometimes, it becomes really hard for them to keep their job because of sleepless nights or they show up at work late all the time because they can not wake up in time. All these symptoms are indicative of anxiety disorders. So anyone with these symptoms should be diagnosed by a doctor immediately in order to start treatment for a timely cure.
